Tale Of Us is Carmine Conte and Matteo Milleri, two Italians who met in Berlin and have spent the last decade building one of the most coherent aesthetic worlds in electronic music. The Afterlife label and events series — launched in 2017 — is theirs, and it's become the primary vehicle for the melodic, cinematic strain of techno they and their collaborators (Anyma, Massano, Fideles) are developing around it. They started as DJs playing each other's records, moved into production, and eventually landed on a sound that sits somewhere between techno's structure and ambient's patience. The Boiler Room Nuits Sonores set from 2016 is an early document; the Afterlife Madrid 2025 closing set shows where the same approach lands nine years later. The Junction 2 festival set and the After Life Paris 2024 full set are also here. The Anyma b2b Solomun collaboration that came through Afterlife is probably the clearest example of how far that world has extended from the starting point.
