Roger Sanchez

Roger Sanchez is from New York, born to Dominican parents. He was part of the city’s house music scene from the late 1980s and built a reputation as one of the most versatile remixers working in that world — his remix of Armand Van Helden’s “You Don’t Know Me” (1999) is probably the most cited, but the list runs into hundreds. He released “Another Chance” in 2001, which went to No. 1 in the UK and became one of the biggest-selling house records of that year. The Essential Mix from 1995 on this site is an early document — the sound of New York house before the mainstream crossover, faster-moving and less polished than what came later, which is precisely why it holds up.
