Paul Oakenfold
Paul Oakenfold is from South London. He started as a record plugger, became a promoter in Manchester, and then in 1987 went to Ibiza — where along with Danny Rampling, Nicky Holloway and Johnny Walker he encountered acid house and brought it back to Britain. The second summer of love happened in significant part because of what those four DJs did when they came home. He held residencies at Cream in Liverpool and Gatecrasher in Sheffield and became one of the defining DJs of the UK rave era. His Essential Mix from Creamfields 1999 — recorded live — is one of the most-downloaded episodes in the show's history. The 1998 Cream 6th Birthday live set, the 1999 Space Ibiza home session, and the 2000 Creamfields three-way with Pete Tong and Seb Fontaine are all here.
