Lane 8

Lane 8 is Daniel Goldsmith, an American producer and DJ who built his following not through festival headline slots but through This Never Happened — a touring phone-free event series he launched in 2016 that grew into one of the more distinctive brands in the deeper end of melodic house. The concept is simple: no phones, full attention, darkness. It worked. He's released on Anjunadeep and on his own This Never Happened label. His sets reflect the same careful curation as his events: patient, emotional, unhurried. The sunrise set at Grand Lake in Colorado and the spring mixtape sessions on the site show what that looks like in practice. The live Petco Park show with Sultan + Shepard is the counterpoint — same sound, much larger scale, and it holds together. He's also collaborated with Fractures and sadHAPPY. The music doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, which is rarer than it sounds.
