John Digweed

John Digweed is from Hastings. He started DJing in the late 1980s, found his way into the early UK rave circuit, and by the mid-1990s was the other half of one of electronic music’s most significant partnerships. The Sasha & John Digweed catalogue — the Renaissance Mix Collection, the Twilo residency in New York, the Fabric sessions — is documented separately on this site. As a solo artist he runs Bedrock Records, launched in 1999, which has been one of the most consistent progressive house imprints ever since. The Renaissance: The Mix Collection Part 2 is his half — it holds up as a standalone statement, not just one side of a partnership document. He plays long: four to six hours is standard. He’s held residencies at nearly every significant progressive house venue across three decades, and by any count has played well over 5,000 DJ sets. He doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, which at this point is its own kind of statement.
