Green Velvet
Green Velvet is Curtis Alan Jones, from Chicago. He also records as Cajmere, under which name he ran Cajual Records and Relief Records — two of the most important labels in Chicago house history, responsible for discovering Dajae and shaping the city's deep house underground through the 1990s. The double identity matters: Cajmere is the community-minded producer and label runner. Green Velvet is the DJ who plays relentlessly driving, occasionally unhinged house and techno to rooms that want exactly that. "Flash" (1995), "Answering Machine," "Bigger Than Prince" — the Green Velvet catalogue is full of tracks that arrived oddly and then became fixtures. He's been playing for 30 years and hasn't slowed. The Tomorrowland, Bugged Out Printworks, Boiler Room Scotland, and Defected Malta sets are all here, and all of them are full-throttle from the first minute.
