Disclosure is Guy Lawrence and Howard Lawrence, brothers from Reigate — same town as Fatboy Slim, probably unrelated. They released Settle in 2013, aged 22 and 18, and it went to No. 1 in the UK. The singles from it — "Latch" with Sam Smith, "White Noise" with AlunaGeorge, "F For You" — soundtracked a specific moment in British pop and dance music’s overlap, the kind of convergence that happens once and then gets copied for years. The Boiler Room London session on this site predates that mainstream reach. It shows what they sound like as DJs rather than producers playing back their own catalogue: technically precise, more adventurous in selection than you might expect from two people who were simultaneously charting pop singles. They’ve since released Caracal (2015) and Energy (2020), collaborated with Khalid, Gregory Porter, Dua Lipa and others, and navigated the transition from underground-adjacent to pop-mainstream without fully abandoning either register. The Boiler Room set is the document from before that got complicated.
